Airtel rolls out 4G trials only for its customers in Delhi-NCR

NEW DELHI: Bharti Airtel launched 4G trials exclusively for its customers in Delhi NCR on Thursday, and offered complimentary upgrade to its 4G services at 3G prices.

India’s No.1 carrier which expanded its 4G footprint to Haryana’s Karnal and Yamunanagar cities, a couple of days ago, wants its customers to be part of the trial phase and provide feedback.

Sarang Kanade, Hub CEO – Delhi NCR and Rajasthan, Bharti Airtel (India) said, “Customers in the region will be uniquely positioned to experience India’s first integrated FD and TD 4G network, implying faster 4G speeds and wider network coverage.”

“As customers in India show an increasing propensity for consuming data services, we at Airtel are excited to take the lead in introducing the market to power of blazing 4G speeds,” he added.

4G services means much faster data speeds, which allow high definition video streaming with zero buffering, downloading 10 movies in less than 30 minutes besides uploading two high resolution photos per second.

The telco is rapidly expanding its services to several states, in the wake of rival Reliance Jio’s 4G services launch timed for December this year. Airtel also announced a go-to-market partnerships with Samsung and Flipkart for 4G devices.

Select retail stores of Samsung India will shortly facilitate easy Airtel 4G SIM swap for customers buying 4G smartphones. Airtel 4G double data offers are now available for customers of Samsung Galaxy S6, Galaxy S6 edge, Galaxy A7 and Galaxy A5 mobile devices. Samsung has recently also launched its all new Core Prime 4G mobile smartphone in Airtel 4G markets.

In the weeks to come, Samsung will also offer bundled Airtel 4G SIMs along with select Samsung 4G handsets.

Online retailer also offers Airtel 4G with double the data benefits for customers buying select 4G handsets and Flipkart-exclusive 4G devices including Xiaomi, Motorola, Lenovo, Asus and Huawei, will come bundled with Airtel 4G SIM.

While existing Airtel customers will be able to follow a quick SMS registration process to activate 4G, non-Airtel customers buying their 4G device from Flipkart will be guided through a simple process to smoothly transition to the Airtel 4G network.

Earlier in April 2012, Airtel had launched India’s first 4G services in Kolkata. Airtel’s 4G services are now available across India including Bengaluru, Pune, Nasik, Nagpur, Aurangabad, Mangaluru, Chandigarh, Mohali, Panchkula, Ludhiana, Jalandhar, Amritsar, Hoshiarpur, Phagwara, Kapurthala, Moga, Bathinda Patiala and recently launched Ambala (City and Cantt.).

Further, 4G trials have been launched for existing Airtel customers in Hyderabad, Vizag, Chennai, Coimbatore and Mumbai.
