Vodafone, the country’s second largest carrier by subscribers, will launch 4G LTE services in Delhi-NCR region on February 3, 2016, following similar launches in Kolkata, Karnataka, and Kerala telecom circles. The telco has sent out invites to the media, for an event in Gurgaon on February 3. The event will be attended by Vodafone Chief Operating Officer Naveen Chopra, and Apoorva Mehrotra, Business Head –Delhi & NCR. BJAS Murthy, Operations Director –North at Vodafone will be present.
The company recently announced the availability of 4G SIMs for its customers at all of its Vodafone stores located at prominent locations across Delhi & NCR. Customers who are upgrading to 4G-Ready SIMs will be rewarded with free 1GB 4G internet, at the time of launch, the company had said.
To ensure a smooth and seamless exchange of 4G-ready SIMs, these are being made available in advance of the commercial launch of Vodafone’s 4G services in Delhi & NCR. It is also making arrangements of home delivery of 4G-ready SIMs for its premium high-value customers in Delhi & NCR.
Vodafone said that it successfully tested its 4G services on its robust network infrastructure to support the expected volumes and speed requirements of its customers in the Delhi-NCR region. In the past few months, Vodafone has invested significantly in modernizing its existing network, incorporating the latest advances in technology to provide seamless network connectivity.
Vodafone India also plans to roll out its 4G services in Mumbai soon. It had successfully acquired 4G (LTE) spectrum in 5 circles– Mumbai, Delhi, Kolkata, Kerala and Karnataka in February 2014 auctions.
